Discover Quick and Effective Hair Removal Techniques With Sugaring and Waxing
What is sugaring?
Sugaring is a hair removal method that uses either a paste or gel made from food-grade ingredients like honey, sugar, lemon juice, water, and essential oils. This mixture is applied to the skin, and then a layer of cloth is rubbed over it. When the cloth is pulled off, it pulls the hair right from the hair follicle along with it.
What is waxing?
Hair removal waxes are usually made from resins like beeswax and honey, but some formulas also include preservatives and dyes. Heated wax is applied to the skin in the direction of hair growth, and then a cloth is placed over it. Once the wax has hardened, the cloth is removed in the opposite direction, bringing the hair with it.
Is waxing or sugaring better for me?
Waxing and sugaring are both great options, but they have different qualities that will determine which is best for you.
Sugaring only requires the hair to be 1/16th of an inch so it can be done every 8-10 days. Alternatively, waxing requires hair to be about half an inch long, so it can only be done every 3-4 weeks.
Some mild discomfort can be expected with sugaring and waxing, but most patients find sugaring a less painful option than waxing, so some patients opt for sugaring on more sensitive areas.
For patients who are focused on using products with more natural ingredients, we tend to recommend sugaring. Waxing and sugaring are both safe options when done by professionals like the ones at Pasqua South Medical Aesthetics, but if you’re prone to allergies and other sensitivities, sugaring may be best for you.
Our technicians will discuss your hair removal needs with you to determine a treatment plan that works for you.
