If you’re working outside of your home it’s almost a guarantee you’ll be wearing PPE while on the job. Many workplaces are required to make face coverings mandatory in public areas.

While it’s great you’re doing your due diligence in protecting yourself and others around you while at work, masks can be harsh on the skin.

Luckily, there are a few ways you can care for your skin, specifically for when you need to wear a mask!

Start a Simple Skincare Routine

Your skincare routine for wearing a mask doesn’t need to be complicated, but it should certainly be effective! Wash your face with a pH-balanced cleanser both before putting on your mask and after taking it off.

Keeping up with cleansing will help to remove any oil, dirt and bacteria that can build up and become trapped with mask wear.

Moisturize and Moisturize Again

Wearing a mask can be incredibly drying to the skin which is why it’s so important to moisturize.

You can use a product that will help protect the barrier of your skin. You might also opt for a thicker moisturizer that can act fast on irritation. Vaseline is a product that can do the trick to give you the moisture you need without breaking the bank.

Ditch the Makeup

You might be used to your makeup routine, but it might be best to go without when it comes to wearing a mask. Foundations and concealers can cause irritation under the mask, and end up clogging your pores with buildup.

If you really feel the need, you can always put makeup on the top half of your face and avoid putting anything on the part of your face that’s covered.

Anti-Inflammatory Ingredients

Look for anti-inflammatory ingredients in your skincare products. These are ingredients such as niacinamide, turmeric and azelaic acid. These ingredients can help those with acne or perioral dermatitis who are experiencing flare ups from mask wear.
